STRYV365

Last Revised: July 10, 2026

Program overview

  • Fostering resilience and social-emotional learning: STRYV365 is a trauma-informed, non-clinical program designed to foster resilience and social-emotional learning (SEL) for youth. The model integrates two primary interventions – peak team and Brain Agents – to improve emotional regulation, coping strategies, and interpersonal skills.
  • Coaching and mentoring through physical activity: peak team is a mentor-led curriculum delivered during physical education, homeroom, or after-school sessions. It utilizes a TEAM approach (Trauma, Engagement, Accessibility, and Mentoring) and incorporates sports alongside guided reflections to help students manage stress and build social connections.
  • Engaging youth through gamified learning: Brain Agents is an action-adventure video game that translates STRYV365’s curriculum into an interactive digital format, specifically targeting students aged 10–15. Through space-themed minigames, players practice cognitive reframing, focused breathing, problem-solving, and emotional regulation.
  • Helping students apply behavioral health strategies: Both interventions are grounded in The CRAFT Process (Catch Yourself, Relax, Assess, Focus, Think, Decide, and Act) and The COPE Framework (Communication, Offering, Positivity, and Empowerment). These evidence-based practices are designed to shift student mindsets from reactive behaviors to intentional decision-making in high-stress situations.
  • Building protective ecosystems: The STRYV365 curriculum is implemented in a variety of settings, including: K-12 schools during the school day, in after-school programs, and through youth development nonprofit organizations. Across these settings, STRYV365 seeks to create positive experiences that generate social capital and build positive, protective factors by fostering belonging and supporting whole student well-being.

STRYV365 is active in Milwaukee (WI), Green Bay (WI), Beloit (WI), Chicago (IL), and Indianapolis (IN)

One study with an experimental design provides strong evidence for STRYV365 as a strategy for improving emotional intelligence. Additional studies not included in this evidence rating that use qualitative or descriptive methods are available below under “Learn more”.

  • A 2026 mixed-methods study found that peak team significantly improves emotional regulation and Brain Agents significantly improves coping strategies. Qualitative findings from focus groups and interviews highlighted improved self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and decision-making skills among participating students.
  • Customize the approach based on partner needs: While the STRYV365 curriculum is always rooted in the CRAFT and COPE frameworks, program implementation may look different across schools or sites. STRYV365 gathers information directly from partners about what they need and want, and co-constructs specific programming opportunities that avoid a prescriptive “one-size-fits-all” approach.
  • Prioritize staff buy-in and involvement: Implementation is most successful when staff at partner sites – often including teachers and school administrators – are actively engaged and trained in the program's principles. Professional development and supplemental resources can help staff at partner sites understand key concepts and reinforce STRYV365 strategies in other programming and within a school’s culture.
  • Ensure predictable scheduling and resource access: Consistent delivery is critical for students facing instability, but irregular scheduling can hinder implementation, particularly with the Brain Agents program. Successful implementation of Brain Agents requires dedicated time slots, reliable device access, and a focus on compelling early-game experiences to ensure students reach core learning objectives.
  • Integrate mentorship with daily routines: Building trust between mentors and participants is essential to creating positive experiences. School partners should invite mentors to participate in school staff meetings, recess, and/or other relevant classes/events. This integration can help embed STRYV365 programming within other daily routines, while also building trusting long-term relationships that are foundational for trauma recovery and student well-being.
  • Tailor content to grade-level developmental needs: Research has found that younger students engage more readily with the gamified elements, while older students may require different engagement strategies. Adjusting the coaching styles and programming to fit grade-level and individual abilities ensures the curriculum remains relevant and impactful across the middle and high school years.
